The Museum Niederösterreich is also a zoo! Over 40 native animal species live in our terrariums, aquariums and in our two-storey formicarium. What are they? Find out on Animal Tuesday!
Every Tuesday* at 2 p.m., our cultural mediators invite you on an animal journey through the Haus für Natur. Together you will visit the amphibians, reptiles, fish and invertebrates and get to know the tree frog, fire salamander and catfish up close.
But because that's not enough, we go one step further! In summer, you can get up close and personal with the dice snakes, sand lizards and green lizards in their outdoor terrariums or feed the European pond turtles in the pond in the museum garden.
In winter, the cultural mediators await you with our terrors from all over the world! But don't worry, the stick insect, ghost insect and wandering leaf insect are completely harmless. You can hold them in your hand and find out what they feel like. Selfie opportunity included, of course!
